the stars go waltzing out in blue and red - April is a crazy little thing. She recalls very little of her time before the Academy, and has formed her opinions about how the world should be ordered in the time since their rescue (and subsequent escape from their rescuers). She needs comrades, fellows-in-arms, crewmates. These people, she will attach to for one reason or another, whether sane or a reason that only makes sense to April. She's highly empathic, and will tune especially into the emotions of these people, and try to cheer them up by (unconsciously) projecting better emotions on to them. Or, conversely, she might accidentally bring them down when she's down by projecting her bad emotions on them. Regardless, she will fight for them with a fierceness somewhat like a lion cub. Adorable, but potentially painful. And no, they have no choice in the matter. [Alanna ([livejournal.com profile] firsttoletshow), Daniel Faraday ([livejournal.com profile] unstuckphysics), 3-4 openings available, depending on April's mood]

but i grow old and i forget your name - There has to be someone that April looks up to. Back home, it was Ryan - only 17, but the oldest of the escapees, and the sort of de facto leader, since she had the presence and everyone looked to her. Without Ryan to keep April in check, to provide an example, she's just a little lost. This person, whether they want to or not, is the person April looks up to, the person she idolizes. She expects them to tell her she's not allowed to drink alcohol (or coffee, for that matter), and that she needs to stay out of people's heads, and that she really shouldn't wander around alone. She will, in turn, be ferociously loyal to this person, to the point of automatically disliking anyone they dislike or liking anyone they like, unless she has a strong reason to feel otherwise. If anyone will be able to give April orders and direction, it will be her captain, and if they leave her, she'll be more lost than ever. [The Doctor ([livejournal.com profile] thatsortofaman)]

i should have loved a thunderbird instead - April loves people for themselves. That is sort of her thing. Also her thing is that they don't have to love her back - she will force her love upon them. We're talking platonic love, though. Romantic love... well, it's rarer. Despite being 14-almost-15 (she thinks), she's not exactly boy-crazy. Or girl-crazy. She was and is completely in love with Ryan, but Ryan's not here, and anyway, Ryan saw her as a little sister. Her mei mei. Ryan doesn't want anyone, Alanna has Mark, and April's everyone's little sister. April's the one left behind, when everyone goes to their bunks for the night. She doesn't have a sexuality except for "who she's attracted to", and she's very very good at hiding when she loves someone. No one knew about her being in love with Ryan, and she was one of a crew of psychic teenagers. But since Ryan's not here... she doesn't have any attachments, romantically. She'll fall for someone strong, someone brave, someone who sees her - all of her, crazy and shattered and never-ever whole - and accepts her. Loves her, even just platonically, despite of all of it. They don't have to return her affections, and if they don't, they'll probably never know of hers, but she would gladly die for them, if the need arose. [1 Opening to any gender, any race]

god topples from the sky - The problem with April is that despite everything she's been through, she believes the best of people. She believes that people can change. She sees the glimmers of good in them. And this person... well, they're probably not the most savory character around, and it's possible they're working for, have worked for, or will work for the other side (or all of the above). But there's something in them that is, somehow, good, and April sees and loves that part of them. She will protect them no matter what, even if they've hurt her. She wants them to be good, and when they're not, she wants to give them the opportunity to change. She's an eternal optimist, and she projects that onto this person in the form of trust, despite all evidence that suggests she should do anything but. Yes, she's a psychic, but she tries not to go prying, and it is possible to hide things from her, especially if she isn't looking. This person will not be the worst person around, but they'll probably know the worst person, and they'll be all too willing to hand the powerfully psychic teenager with combat training over to their superior. And April, to keep them from getting hurt, or to show that she trusts them anyway, will go willingly. [Julian Sark ([livejournal.com profile] sarkraticmethod)]

exit seraphim and satan's men - April isn't a natural psychic, or a natural crazy-girl. She was, at one point, a normal little girl (if extremely intelligent). And then the government began experimenting on her, stripping parts of her brain, trying to turn her into a weapon. Because of that, she's likely to be quite interesting to anyone who has a medical or scientific background. And there are those who wouldn't care that she's terrified of going back to the hell that is experiments and drugs and poking and hurting, they'd take her and experiment and drug and poke and hurt her anyway. In the name of science and research, of course. [The Ranifer ([livejournal.com profile] war_rani), 1-2 openings to scientific-minded non-angels]

i fancied you'd return the way you said - There will inevitably be a point where April gets in trouble. Maybe she'll be in the enemy's hands, maybe she'll just be in danger of getting lost inside (or outside) her own head. But regardless, she's going to need rescuing, like a princess in a tower. This person will rescue her, probably more than once and in more ways than one. They might be the one she loves, they might be crew, they might be her captain, but they're gonna be her hero, too. [1 opening to non-demon]

i think i made you up inside my head - And sometimes, someone can hide their intentions well enough for long enough that April won't see anything bad coming. She'll think she's found a friend, or at least someone she doesn't have to be afraid of, and before she has a chance to realize that she hasn't, they'll have twisted her mind around and in on itself, causing new breaks, new insanities and instabilities. Maybe they'll do this just to break her, maybe to see how much more they can push her before she can't function at all, maybe to make her their perfect little weapon, finish the job the Alliance started at the Academy. Whatever the reason, they'll have her in the palm of their hand. [Elashte ([livejournal.com profile] elashte)]
